Modalities typically used and how they can help you:

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is the current gold standard for OCD treatment. This is a structured treatment plan. It is not our goal to “get rid” of anxiety or control our thoughts. With ERP, we will gradually be using exposures to face your fears while practicing skills to prevent engaging in rituals. While practicing ERP, we build tolerance to uncertainty and discomfort without relying on rituals.

  • Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)

I-CBT is an evidence based treatment for OCD that focuses on correcting distorted reasoning processes rather than targeting anxiety directly. I-CBT helps individuals with OCD recognize and challenge faulty interpretations that trigger obsessions, such as doubt or uncertainty about imagined threats. When these faulty beliefs are addressed, one can reduce compulsive behaviors while building self trust.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is considered a blend of behavioral and cognitive therapies. With ACT, we will build psychological flexibility and focus on accepting our thoughts and feelings rather than trying to fight them or being controlled by them. While building overall flexibility and acceptance, one can identify values driven actions towards their goals.

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is an evidence-based form of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed to help individuals process and recover from trauma, particularly those experiencing PTSD. It focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts (known as "stuck points") that are often developed after a traumatic event. By addressing these thoughts, we are able to reduce distressing emotions, develop a more balanced perspective ultimately leading to improved ability to move forward and live a fulfilling life.
